Hmmm Top Hose to turbo intercooler ( 1.9jtd mjet )

Hi all my top Hose to turbo inter-cooler ( think that's what you call it it goes from the top of the engine near the EGR along to the wing and then under a cover to a cooler/rad) has a couple of splits in it, I need to get a new one any idea on part number for this or should i get a silicone one,
also when i removed it the hose had some gunk in it like old oily diesel is this normal ? it was only at the top end none had go onto the cooler.

Sorry for being a dumbo only had non turbo petrol lumps before.

Thanks all.

Steve.

As Cream says. The silicone ones are better and no more expensive than the OE flimsy part.

apart from the splits you mentioned...were there any other symptoms?

its just i think mine might be split but can't see where,as i come off accelerator when changing gear i get a 'pop' kind of noise from what seems to be that area under bonnet

The main thing I can see is a nice plume of black smoke out the exhaust ! and I also get a nice noise from the hose.

I removed the hose and started the car and wow you get a nice smoke screen, i then did a bodge repair to the hose to test it and that confirmed its was just the top hose that was at fault, I am now waiting for a nice new Silicone Autolusso hose which will last longer and flex less.
Maybe the pop sound is when the split in your hose expands outwards.

Hope that helps.

Oh dear say ciao' to 70 for a nice silicone one from autolusso, I was amazed at the amount of crap that comes out the car when they have split.

top hose on its way

i already have a autolusso bottom hose thankfully

and ive changed all the 3mm vacumm pipes that control the turbo actuation - these can cause all manner of problems with low boost etc - change the lot all in one go is the best option, 2 meters of 3mm silicone on ebay is about 3.50 !

Hi all, sorry for the dumb question! I'm buying a new turbo intercooler hose and it's my upper one that has gone. Is this the same part as the lower? A lot of sellers don't specify and I don't want to end up with the wrong thing!

A minor technicality but this pipe takes the air from the intercooler to the engine, and it's part number is 60688601.
