Cambelt OEM

I'm sure there is loads of stuff on here about cambelts, I am really just passing through as I am just selling a GTV 2.0 for a friend (although it is difficult not to become slighty attached to the car).

The cambelt make is DAYCO is this any indication to anyone that it is the origional OEM belt.

I know that it needs changing at 72,000 miles or five years on low annual mileage cars and if in any dought change it!

As I am not keeping it I just wanted to check while the vehicle is in my custody so it doesn't snap on my watch if I decide to give it a healthy test drive.

As David C said, it has been reduced due to several horrific stories of premature failure. If it hasnt been done within the new recommended time then I would not be selling on behalf of a friend. It could drag you into more hassle than its worth. Dayco is OEM IIRC but any major brands will do for the belt, tensioners/idlers/water pumps are the thing to be more concerned with as they seem to be the cause for many failures
