Cambelt Change - How Much Labour?

Hello all, what do people think is reasonable labour time for a cambelt change on a 1.6 Twin Spark? I was recently quoted £380 for the job by a local specialist (cambelt change only, no variator) and this seemed a bit steep when you can pick up a genuine Alfa belt kit for £80 - £90.

Thanks for your opinions.

Autolusso - Alfa Romeo Specialist | Alfa Romeo 147 Servicing

Highly recommended on here and only £250. Bit far for you to travel tho. Shows that £380 is a bit steep . . .

My feelings exactly - for the same price Auto Lusso will do a full service as well. Even with the fuel and inconvenience of travel I'd still be in pocket!

Aye, and you'd know the job has been done properly.

Not an Alfa :-(

4 hours labour - £200. Belt full kit (balance and timing belt and tensioners) £100.
So £300 is fair, any less a bargain as long as they are reputable.

I'm certainly not an expert in such matters (hence the original post!) but 4 hours labour? - I'd have thought 2.5 - 3 at most?

Dealers quote four hours labour I think, specialists can do it well inside three hours.

Your 'local specialist' is having a giraffe I'm afraid.

I agree, I'll definitely be going elsewhere. Shame as they seem to have a good name in the area.

Yes, went there for some warranty work. Very helpful, nice people and did a good job BUT main dealer pricing - quote for a 36,000 mile service was £600+
