gear box links

Hi All

I need some help i am changing my engine over on a GTV 2ltr and i am having trouble removing
the gear box links i have removed one but the other two are very tight and hard to get a socket into as you can see by the pics i have removed the split pin and washer
Does any body have any ideas or is it just very difficult to do i have posted a pic to show all what i am talking about

the linkages are ball joints (similar to the gas struts on the boot and bonnet) and should just lever off
