Increase in oil level

Just checked the oil level in my '10 plate 159 2.0jtd (170) and noticed the oil level has actually increased from being midway to above max. The car has only just completed 6,000 miles and has never been topped up. I have read or heard that this may be due to diesel finding it's way in somehow. Has anyone else experienced this?

Garage
Has your coolant level gone down?

I think it's more common for the head gasket to go, and for coolant to leak in, if it has there is often a mayo substance on the inside of the oil cap.

Very common if it has had a lot of uncompleted DPF regens, which will happen to a modern Diesel if it spends a lot of time doing short drives.

Hi, thanks for your replies. No evidence of milky residue, would you suggest an oil change? Runs are mostly short, is this likely to be anongoing problem?

Has this likely to have caused damage? Just wondering what my next move should be.

If the oil level gets too high the engine could lunch itself by ingesting the contents of the sump and running itself to death on that.

Diesel engine runaway - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

there are posters on this forum who have experienced this, although it's more usually due to turbo oil seal failure.
