TS Sump removal question

Hi all

Ive been scouring and it looks like I need a new long ribe tool to remove my sump. However, I have plenty of normal size tools and some thin extension bars, so my question is will I be able to do it (even with a bit of fiddling) with the tools I have and not have to fork out any more ?

Cheers
Stan

I doubt it, the screws at the gearbox end have only small holes for access.

No chance. Even the proper long ribe bits are a squeeze sometimes. What you can get though is a long ribe-ended screwdriver and use that. Some have a hex on the end of the handle to put a socket/spanner on for extra leverage, or grip the handle with a pair of mole grips.

Just an update but I did manage to get those off, without a ribe tool.

I bought a ribe kit but they weren't quite long enough fr the 'pain in the ****' bolts. So, after speaking to someone 'in the know' I managed to undo them with a rather long 5 mm allen key! It fits a treat by the way, and you could actually do them all with one but obviously the ribes are the correct tool for the job.

There's a risk of fooking the bolt heads, but they're not done up very tight.

Aye, appreciate that mate. There wasnt much torque in them to be fair hence me using the allen key, if there had have been then I would have waited to get the right tool.
