Okay found this sad 164 in need of TLC, cambelt stripped down the middle ,one half still in tact on all gears?Timing m,ay have jumped because of the torn bit getting underneath the remaining section, question is how to set this all right and then check compression levels to see if any real damage has been done!!!!!
hAS ANYONE GOT SOME TIPS OR BETTER STILL a workshop manuel on cd that they can lend me so that I can set this beast up for an operation. Its a 24valver 3l L Reg
Much of the principle is the same but the tensioner is totally differentit involves a 1.5mm lock pin , I know you are trying to help but I get different things for different jobs! I amgetting there but I don`nt want to end up with a nackered engine which is I hope is not what I have at the moment.
All the marks on the camshaft appear to be off, so to verify this I need sighns in the right direction, I cannot understand why the marks are off so much when half the belt is still tight on th sprockets, unless of course the car was set up wrongly in the first place ?
Must admit, I thought there was only 3.0l (2959cc) V6 with 24valves.
Certainly, have am only aware of the 3.0l 12v to 1993, then 24v from there on. Believe both are 2959cc.
Is it the 2.0 V6 turbo? - think that got 24 valves eventually.
NO DEFINITELY 3.0litre 24v.
Rebuilt engine with new cambelt and camlocks etc.,- ran like a bag of nails........removed plugs and plenum and gave it a compression test.....low and behold Nos. one and two cyls have no compression....sods law so nothing dounted ...well just a bit have bought another super and will fix this one eventually, have begun to to remove rear cyl head and check how many valves have gone (8)?.
