GTV 2.0JTS Engine Hesitation from cold only

Hi, I have a 2004 2.0JTS engined GTV.

The engine hestitates badly when cold and gets better as it wams up and has completely gone after 5-6 miles.
I know there are lots of threads about hestitation issues in the 2.0 and 2.2 engines but there appears to be no concensus of opinion as to the fault/cure...

Can ayone enlighten me please?

Did it have the same symptoms? Only from cold, improving, then fine when warm?
What's a MAF? How did you fix it?

MAF .. Mass Air Flow meter ...

You can't fix them, you replace them. Bosch only though! Others are a waste of time and money.

You actually only need the internal electronics and can replace it in the existing pipework. Might take a bit more time tracking one down though.

Thanks for this info. You seem to know what your talking about.

Can you asnwer me a couple of questions please?

1. Is there a way to check whether the MAF is causing the problem? I've read somewhere you can disconnect it temporarily to see if the car drives OK.
2. Whhere is the MAF?
3. I've also read that cleaning the connections might help?
4. How much should I expect to pay?

It's in the air intake pipe between the filter box and the throttle body. Only thing in there with a cable going to it.

You can test it by unplugging it, although in my case it wasn't conclusive.

Cleaning the connections will help if they're corroded or dirty.

About 100.
