Help 156 GTV 3.0 V6 Conversion??

Hey Alfa people,

I need your expertise knowledge yet again!

I would like to know if I can put a 3.0 V6 24v GTV engine into my 156 2.5 24v as a conrod snapped and blew a nice hole in my 2.5 engine block. It is a W reg, year 2000 phase 2 I believe. Will it be a straight swap over or does it cause any issues?!

Many thanks

Daniel

It is doable - some of the guys here have done it - I think that the 3.0 from a 166 is the one usually used for the wiring loom compatibility etc.... may be wrong, but a 3.0 in a 156 is doable!... sure someone will be over soon to give you the right information!!

The GTV/Spider V6 is the best choice and is an easy swap.

The 166 V6 can be used, but is more work.

Older 164 24v V6 is best avoided all together!

Very easy to do. You can even keep the original electronics, intake system, injectors etc. All you will need is something like a Unichip (piggyback chip) or something similar to map the fueling and timing to suit the bigger capacity. One thing is certain, it will transform your car

They don't even need mapping, 2.5 ECU & air mass meter and 3.0 injectors, works perfect

CF2 setup I had rolling roaded and it made 213bhp the whole car being stock other than the engine, it was well fueled at hovering throughout at 13.x to 1...

Mapping would make a difference but only if you have other mods like exhaust etc...

Presumably 3.0 CF2 injectors, not the 2.5 injectors?
