JTS Twin-Phaser info

Hi,

I had a quick look at the engine on my brother's 57-plate Spider at the weekend, after informing him that his cambelt* change was due.

It's far more different to the TS than I was expecting - inlet at the front/exhaust at the back, and the starter-motor's at the front as well.

Is it a completely different beast to the TS, or an evolution of it?

Cheers,

Iain

* Or is it a timing chain on these?

I know Vauxhall (Opel) had massive problems with chains snapping on early versions of this engine.

Something to do with an inadequately size oil feed hole to the chain??

I know a bloke of work had the chain snap on his Astra coupe only just before Crimbo.

Later Vauxhall engines (About 2002 onwards) were modified, and you would like to think that the modification had been carried over to the Alfa units..
