Help 1.6ts 156 sw will not start

Hi all. Last night comeing home from work i got a warning light. I have had this light come on b4 it was just a sloppy oil change that cloged up the coil pack and spark plugs nearest the oll filler cap.
So today i took out the coil packs and cleaned them all and inspected all the spark plugs witch i changed only 3k miles ago they seemed a little damp but all ok. put everything back. now when i went to start it the starter moter keeps turning but the the engine will not start at all...grr
i do not have a clue what might be wrong so i dont know where to start .
any help or suggestions would be super. or if any one has come across another thread it would be a big help.
thanks you in advance

Go back and check ALL the cables on the coil pack plate.
Especially the small earth cable.

Ok.
Unrelated to the work you did, but does the fuel pump run when you turn the ignition on?

and

Does the "CODE" light go out?

For the record, were all the tensioners replaced when it was done before?
