How to identify a CF3 block.

I have just bought a 2001 32310 156 engine off of Ebay - or should I say that it was advertised as such !

I am worried that is is not a 32310 CF3

I need to know how to tell if this is a 32310 CF3 engine - block and pistons.

I am having my doubts that it is as the cylinder head gasket is not the very thin metal gasket but the older thicker one.

how can I tell for sure ? I am suspecting that the car has had an earlier engine fitted and the ancillaries swapped over.

Its only the block and pistons that I am interested in.

The pistons are stamped....

Cyl 1 = 1301 2G2
Cyl 2 = 1301 2G2
Cyl 3 = 1501 2G1
Cyl 4 = 1501 2G1

The block is stamped...

47B
M6471G
60600101
1D18

Thanks

Mike

The blocks are all the same cf1 to 3, pistons are the same on cf1 and 2, cf3 without removing them look the same from the crown but have had some weight trimed off them.
You can still use a CF1 or 2 in a CF3 engined car just meake sure you swap everything over from old to replacment.
Saying that i think a CF2 is AR32301 and a CF3 is AR32310 so from the number id say its a CF3 daveC is the number man he be able to confirm.
