Cam Locking Set

Hey folks, came across this when thinking about purchasing a set of 2.0l ts locks.

BERGEN Professional Petrol Timing Tool Kit for Alfa Romeo

Anybody with experience of this set ?

Cheers

It looks like it will do the job, however that set also includes the set of locks for the 1.6 litre TS.

You can get just the 1.8/2.0 set for around £25 from shop4parts or Totally Alfa, so unless you plan on getting a 1.6 in the future it will be cheaper.

Thanks Symon, actually I do have a 1.6 as well, just the 2.0 engine is likely to be needing stuff done first.

Thought with getting both sets of locks together with tensioning tools it wasnt too bad value - though that was against £ 40 for the 2.0 set from alfaworkshop rather than less than £ 30 from totally alfa

Hmm need to think about it.
Cheers

That set does not say anywhere about the 1.6 alfa 147. Why is this? I have one and can't find cam lock tools for a 147 1.6 other than post 04 plate. Are they just the same as the 156 ones?

It does look like a handy and comprehensive kit with both types of camlocks and the tensioner tools, would be interested to hear if they are any good in actual use.

Jared.. I'm not 100% familiar with the 1.6.. but I think there was a 105bhp jobbie with no variator and later on a 120bhp donkey with a variator.

The 1.6 156 was introduced later.. so I'd say that it has a 120bhp lump in it.

Possibly because the 147 1.6 block is about an inch shorter than the 156's, and the tensioner tool doesn't fit past the belt/idler.

The cam locks will be the same though.

Cheers dude. Do you also know what ports the cam locks go on. Is it exhaust 3 and inlet 3 or the other way around?

Inlet 2, exhaust 3, but due to the 'extra' bearing cap for the variator oilway, it's the 3rd from the left on each.

You know you've got it right when the #1 lobe on the inlet cam is pointing towards the rear of the car, and the #1 on the exhaust is pointing dead ahead.
