147 JTD Replacement turbocharger

Hi,

Need to find a good supplier for a replacement or New turbocharger. 147 jtd m-jet 16v (140hp)

GT1749v - 716665-0001

The one on my car started burning smoke all of a sudden, and once taken the turbo off, there is loads of play in the shaft..and lots of oil everywhere.. (********* ARRRRRGGG***)

Where the best place to get a new unit from?

Cheapest thing i is to get your old turbo to reconditioning (they will replace all damaged parts, bearing, seals, rotors, shaft...).

Or you can buy reconditioned turbo at FIAT dealership, for you engine it is FIAT # 71785259 (but you have to leave you old turbo to them).

The most expensive option is brand new turbo, FIAT # 55191934.

2004 147 JTD 140

I have exact same problem. 2004 147 JTD 140, turbo was replaced for a recon unit, but only lasted few miles. I bought the car like that, and now I'm looking for a new turbo at reasonable price. I know that Garrett doesn't recommend reconditioning of this particular turbo, hence they dont sell any rebuild kits for them. The kits are available, but are mostly made in China. Only new units i found are around 900euro on eBay. Its double the price of a standard Turbocharger. It's a lot of money, but it looks like it's the only way to go. Any info on this topic will be greatly appreciated.
