155 and 156 same engine?

Hi all, Ive read a few threads on here, but still unsure....

I`m pretty sure the head gasket has gone again on my 16v 2.0 155. I am presuming something is seriously up with it. So maybe looking to get engine or new head fitted to it, as it was skimmed last time.

There doesnt seem to be much in the way of 155 engines / heads about, but 156s seem more plentiful.

are they interchangeable?

I believe they are. Its more a case of extra sensors on the later engines.

i believe the 16v 155 ts is a cf1 engine (alloy top) so a cf1 engine from early 145/6's or the GTV/916 would be more suitable.

the engines are all interchangeable, but you need to transfer anything electric and the exhaust cam pulley....

Hi you have to swop sensors as plugs are different and exshaust cam pulley. Inlet manifold too.
