2,4 JTD Sump Woes

Hi Guys,

Had 2 failed attempts to fix my sump now and the time has come to source a new one. Obviously if anyone wants to sell one then i'd love to hear from you but I have 2 other questions:

1) Roughly how much is a new one?
2) I understand the engine is used in many other cars so does anyone know if sumps from other manufacturers can be fitted to it? Just thought it might make finding one easier.

Thanks in advance

Simon

the 2.4 is only used in fiat products... the 1.9 is more common.

a new one will cost an arm and a leg... what did you try to fix it?

Hi there, it was welded but lasted 3 weeks and the last attempt was using chemical metal, both times by a garage and not a DIY job. Any other ideas are greatfully received.

Mine was cracked when I got the car - I found the crack, drained the sump, thoroughly cleaned and degreased the area of the crack, keyed it with some emery paper and smeared "Plastic Padding Super Steel Epoxy Weld" (from Halfrauds) all over it.

Let it set over night, then refilled sump. No leaks for the past 12 months
