Help hydraulic tappets

Hi Guys, Ive noticed that the two litre twinspark engine has two different lengths of hydraulic tappets fitted.Difficult to notice unless you sit them side by side. Are they interchangeable as whilst the external length varies im not sure if internally (the lifter mech) is different.I have recently picked up a twinspark with a seriously damaged engine and by coincidence the damaged section had the longer lifters fitted.I dont know its full history. Cheers for any info for future reference.

The lifters are all the supposed to be the same. It's probably got a spurious make in the damaged side.

I have changed the lifters in 3 twin spark engines an the new ones and the ones that came out of the engine were all the same length, i have never heard of two different sizes being used.

Ive come across this on more than one occaision. Within the last year ive had two engines with different depth lifters.Ive now got two boxes one for short and one for long lifters. My original thoughts were they are compatible as the internal movements may be the same, but im not sure hence my post.
