OAP Engines - What to do...

My main mode of transport, '96 145, has just knocked up 122,100 miles (195,000km) in it's 7 year life... That's a fair distance! The body is knackered, and parts are dropping at a rate faster than sellotape can hold them...!
The engine is as good as it gets for that age, but I am thinking of doing a recondition on it, and moving it into a 146 whose body is significantly better (and it's a lusso!).
It's not burning oil, but I feel that the engine is somewhat underpowered, and used to be a bit more spritely.

My question to the knowledgeable in the forum is as follows:
What would you recommend be done to an engine of this age to ensure it remains reliable till 200,000 miles, and regains it's former glory?
My thoughts are:
Piston rings replacement.
Cam-shaft replacement.
Tappet replacement.
Gaskets.
Big and Small end bearing.

Should I consider new valves and soft metal bearings?

What would you do?
Has anybody done this, and what is the cost? (roughly)

Re: OAP Engines - What to do...

I think you'll be surprised by how little wear you'll find.

I'd be disappointed if you'll have to do any more than;

New pistoon rings
Re-grind the valves and fit new valve-guide oil seals
Re-gap the valves (needed anyway)
New head gasket (needed anyway)
Stick a new clutch in it
New variator and belts
New plugs & HT leads
