a quick moan

How annoying are the hose clips fitted to alfas, why could they not just be jubilees with a screw to tighten. I even have the tool for them but can get them to close without several attempts. I think so may have been abused with screwdrivers in the past.

My second moan is about the black wiring box that sits above the thermostat on the GTA. The top screw came out fine but the head on the bottom one is knackered so I was stopped in my tracks in changing out the thermostat. Will need to get hold of one of those drill bits I think to remove it.

Right got that out, wife just doesnt understand.

Having got the proper tool, I usually moan when someone's changed the clip-type for screw-type ones .

Dumb question, I know, but are you aware you need to reverse the jaws to undo/redo the clips?

I prefer the hook type, especially having bought the proper tool for the job. There's one with a swivel head to get to the awkward ones, I think I'll buy one of those as well.

On a similar subject, is there a tool to remove (and maybe refit) the other type of non-screwed jubilee clips? They're the ones on the bottom radiator hose (for example).

They seem to be one-time-only, and have an extra metal keeper over the bit that's pinched together...

Yeah.. the coolant clips ones seem to be a set once and forget job.. I haven't worked out a way to remove them without wrecking them, even though they aren't re-usable anyway.

The Klik-R clips... there's a tool in Halfrauds.. 17.. so no moaning about it!

Not a dumb question, i think i might have been using them in the setup to remove. Took my time this morning making sure the jaws were correct and they all pretty much clipped first time.

I think there is a saying about speed and haste

None yet

Didn't know they had such a beast for tackling those nasty clips... I ended up using pliers to get my turbo hoses fastened again.
