156 2.4 jtd non starter

hi all,my cars been in the garage since before christmas for not starting,got it back yesterday all was well went out this morning and still not starting,in the past month its had,
full set of glow plugs,
fuel valve
fuel sender unit
fuel filter
fuel pump
egr valve
timing belt
new battery
been on computer 3 times and shows nothing,along with suspension parts it needed its now knocking on £2000,its really gutting now i cant scrap it coz ive got that much money in it,so im hoping someone on here will have an idea because my local diesel specialists are abit stumped and starting to get fed up with us .thankyou in advance stu

I dunno dude.. the Dark Side is a bit alien to me.. but it sounds like the problem likely to be in the brains rather than the mechanical stuff.

Does a diesel have a TDC sensor? If that was failing then the beast won't know when to squirt... (I guess it doesn't have spark plugs to fire).

Does the low pressure electric fuel pump run for about 5 to 10 seconds when the ignition is turned on? (Ignition Key in MAR position).

Take the cover off from inside the boot if you dont hear the fuel pump running, untill it times out with the key in the MAR position.

Have you (or the Garage) checked the relay connections at the front of the battery, particularly as mentioned the Fuel Pump & Injection Relays!

The Crank Position Sensor (CPS) tends to go open circuit as the engine warms up, with no crank position the ECU stops the engine, and gives the normal display warning MCSF.
But normally restarts when the engine cools (CPS now back in circuit at about 900 ohms @ 60C).

got phone call of the garage today..turns out to be the crank sensor also replaced the maf as i said it was still sluggish afer the egr valve was changed so he nows says its a flyer so happy days lol,finally sorted,thanks for all the advise ralf and cannonball much appriciated, Stu
