How would an engine run with timing out?

If the timing is out on a TS, how would the engine run?

Would it run (rev) ok but lack pull?

I am not talking timing miles out and pinking etc but just slightly out, a tooth etc

When I have experienced it on a TS, the engine felt slower to rev, slightly lumpy idle and worse fuel economy.

However if it is 1 tooth out it may not run at all.

My friends belt jumped 1 tooth on V6. The engine run fine, but the ECU registered camshaft position sensor failure and put the engine into limp mode. When we cleared the error, the engine was drivable up to 2k rpm and reving it higher always brought the camshaft sensor error back.

That sound about right but with the one I had the day re-timing it, it dropped a valve

I suppose it will depend on which cam is out and in which direction whether it runs or bends the valves.
