stupid question

Guys does it matter what piston i put in each cylinder...

I removed the pistons marked them up an i when refitting them yesterday and put no:1 in pot4, the pistons have new rings and bigend shells on a reground crank...

I only realised my error when i went to fit piston no:2 and i wasnt next to the one i just fitted if you know what i mean... Dho...

I'm afraid it does really. You want to make sure all the bearing caps go back on the same pistons and in the same position. The fact you have done all that work probably decreases the chance of a failure caused by mixing them up but why risk it?

Garage
Well at least you realised as you'd marked em. Imagine if you'd just laid it out on the bench and then done it. Then been even more confused if it had gone wrong. The big end caps and rods start life as 1 piece and then they are cut which is why its sorta important. Max respect to you working on her at this time of year though. I've left my v6 conversion for the summer. too wet!
