V6 3.2 gta conrods

Does anyone know how much power the con rods in the 3.2 V6 GTA will take reliably. I am doing a turbo conversion so will not be revving the engine highly, probably redline at 7000 but the project goal is 500BHP.
I have heard that the GTA rods are better than the stock 3.0 V6 rods, but am unable to find out how good.

Thanks

Neil

autodelta have done supercharged 3.7l conversions to 420hp with the standard rods I think, but the torque on that would probably be a lot less than what you'd be looking at with a turbo

I started the car build about 6 months ago, so have a fair bit done now, but work is a necessary evil that seems to get in the way of things, so its by no means finished yet!

Anway Even though I had convinced myself that the alfa GTA rods would be good enough for the 500BHP turbo engine - I finaly changed my mind and bought some forged THS Rods.

These should be well capable of the job..

cheers

How much did they set you back? Are you using standard GTA pistons? Any change to the compression ratio by changing rods?

The rods were about 460 - The price is on the THS website.

The engine I am building is a turbo coversion, so I have forged pistons with 8.5:1 Ratio.

Its going to be a 500BHP engine and its going in a stratos replica. Which is also being rebuilt at the same time.

Correct the stroke is longer. But the rods are the same length. Just to be sure I sent a GTA rod to THS & they Confirmed that they were identical to the 3.0L Rods, the pistons are different to sort out the compression ratio.

Cheers

GTA rods are different to 3.0 rods. They are the same length, but I think there is a difference in the oil feed to the big ends.. Not that this will matter when you are using an aftermarket rod in a 3.0 or 3.2 engine.

3.2 liners are different as well, even though the bore is the same as a 3.0

Not sure on the oil feed to the bearings, when I said that they were the same I was only looking at the bearing sizes & the length.

I hope to Have the engine & car done by the summer, but things always seem to take longet than you plan dont they.....

A Bit off topic, Just been to the newark Kit Car Show & the latest Stratos Kit was there -
The ListerBell Stratos Replica (STR). I Have had some fiberglass parts from them, all of which were excellent quality but this was the first time I had seen a complete body shell - Fantastic work - better fit than my panels & it was Gel Coat!!

more photos on their web site...

Shaz if you are still intrested to see the car send me a PM..

Progress is slow, with me working away, but while i was home I managed to get the car to the stage were all the body modifications were completed & the chassis modified & painted - then everything stripped off and the car sent to the paint shop.

Just had a Progress report & this is how th ecar looks now.

Wow, that is amazing, A Lancia Stratos with a very highly tuned GTA engine. Would love to see a video of this driving when it is ready?

The colour scheme is fantastic. Surely a magazine should be featuring this?

It has been said that putting a 500BHP engine in a car like a stratos is MAD so the paint work had to be somthing that reflected that!

cheers
