2.4 JTD - Please check.
In front of the plastic engine cover there is a metal (Alloy?) heater rail, it has 2 bleed valves on it. If they are black rubber bungs please pop down to your dealer and have them replaced for metal ones.
On the recent Europe Run we discovered why, @ the very top of the Pyrennes (2400mts.) and 1c , ! When the rubber bung opens it blows itself apart, you are now immobilised, if you fill the expansion tank you create a tasteful fountain effect all over your engine. Top hat time to Mario of Alfa independants Avanti Autos Ipswich, from over a thousand miles away he diagnosed the problem. RomeoRaider aka Boggit motors fixed it with Aqaurium mastic and a self tapper ! A repair highly approved of by the chief tech of the Alfa dealership group Cedran, however he would have used silicone , since RR's repair would probably crack up after 3 / 4 years.
not sure if this also applies to the 1.9 JTD... someone more clued up will advise.. Smaky or one of the other great AO spannermen .
mods... if this is in the wrong part of the forum please move it, just felt it might not have been spotted in the Europe Run thread.
Who goofed and posted in wrong forum ?
