Can i use????

Can i use an alloy topped 2.0ltr TS engine to repair (as a whole or in parts) a plastic topped 2.0ltr TS?

Yes, depending on what you want to repair exactly, but the CF1 engines (Alloy) seem to be harder to locate than the Cf2's and 3's so it's a bit of a waste!

Thanks mitch, i need a crankshaft and con rods a local scrapy has a cf1 engine with a snapped cambelt and i have a cf2 engine with a knocking/ceased crank, so i wanted to swap the heads...

You'd better do a search of this site for reports that a snapped cam belt has caused early failure of the crankshaft big ends due to the impact of the valves on the piston.

IIRC, this doesn't doesn't manifest itself immediately. Not sure exactly how reliable these reports are. There may be other contributing factors, for example the sort of neglect that can lead to a cam belt breaking might also mean an owner has also neglected the oil level. We then see two serious failures in quick succession and make a connection that might not be valid.
