Re: Injector Cleaner for JTS engine

They tend to be octane boosters - making your car feel better for as long as they're in the fuel.

If you want to clean your injectors (and it's only likely to be necessary if you've been running the car on rubbish fuel), removal, disassembly and ultrasonic cleaning is the only way...

Injector cleaner is just a gimmick, most modern fuels contain cleaning agents anyway. Ultrasonic like what he said.

Re: Injector Cleaner for JTS engine

You can use Ralf S's famous home-brew injector cleaner.. (aka Homebase "Turpentine Substitute")

250ml to the tankful fo regular use shouldn't hurt.

Re: Injector Cleaner for JTS engine

I put Forte injector cleaner into my JTS through the throttle body - worked a treat, and helped cure my hesitation and 1800rpm

You may as well have poured neat petrol in then - as it won't have gone anywhere near the injectors...

Re: Injector Cleaner for JTS engine

i tried STP fuel injector cleaner in my spider. I don't think it really does anything. Most gas stations nowadays have additives that clears the gunk from the fuel tank anyway.

The best thing for cleaing out injectors is a tank of optimax, it's also a hell of a lot cheaper too.

Re: Injector Cleaner for JTS engine

There is another thread here somehere on this subjuct. As most injector cleaners are basically parafin I put this in my 1.8 16v 115000 mile 155, as recomended by others on this forum, and it made a noticable improvement (that is it ran more smoothly) and its not just my imagination. There was a big improvement to the emissions in the following MOT. It now has 126000 on the clock and uses almost no oil.
My work often takes me to Cwmbran and Pontypool in my Purple 155 or red 75TS.

i've been told that a litre of white spirits on a tank of fuel is a good way to clean injectors
