Odd GTV v6 today. Engine acting strange???

Today i started the car up as normal and for some reason it didnt seem to be ticking over correctly. It seemed very jumpy. When pulling away in first gear i had to give it at least 2000 rpm. Anything under this would cause it to be very jumpy as thou it was going to stall. On the journey back home the car was acting fine again. Ive just had the MAF replaced with the MOT. I have no idea why it would do this. There is a crack in the induction pipe but i have taped it up and had no issues. Any ideas why the car would do this

Re: Odd GTV v6 today. Engine acting strange???

My car did this (sort of) saturday morning.Car started but very jumpy on tick over,so i turned it off and then it wouldent start.I noticed when turning on the ignition there was no fuel pump noise.I have had this problem before (very common on GTV)and it was the fuel pump relay.I opened the boot lid and gave it a good slam shut and all was well again May not be the cause of your problem but it's a cheap fix so worth a go

any other ideas? I hate it when something goes wrong then just goes away. i would rather have to fix it so i know it wont happen again. Do you think getting a new induction pipe would solve this problem

Not if its a relay mate.

Its one of those jobs that could go on forever! I would be inclined to do the Alfie thing, if its the relay then its a very cheap fix. Induction pipes and the like are not that cheap are they!

Good luck fella.

still think im gonna buy a new flexi pipe anyway as i dont like the idea of the car having unmetered air flowing in the engine. Im sure that cant be helpful towards the engine

Could try ebay for a flexi pipe, then if it works buy a new one! In all honesty I had missed that last bit off the origional post mate. That would make a lot more sense!

Note to self must read all post before giving crap advice!
