Re: Help!!! About changing cambelt

While you are doing all the belts it is worth thinking about changing the pump.

If it needs doing afterwards, you will need to do the belts all over again just to get to the pump.

Re: Help!!! About changing cambelt

Water pump is not a must, but highly recommended. It is used to a certain belt pressure. When you replace the tensioners and belt, the tension will rise and stress its bearing that might fail. Might be ocasional, but I heard about some pump failures after cam belt job.

Re: Help!!! About changing cambelt

Don't forget the aux belt & tensioner.

If replacing the variator, then you also have the bearings for the variator.

Recommended to replace the camshaft oil seals and cam cover gasket too.

Re: Help!!! About changing cambelt

I would change the variator even if there is no noise on start up. Had my belts done last year and the variator now needs doing!
