Are 164 & 155 8v engines identical?

Hi I need a engine for my 155 & been offored a cheap 164 engine?
is is the same/direct swap?
both are 93 2.0 8v models.

From what I can recollect, the 164 has two distributors - one on each end of the exhaust cam, IIRC.......whereas the 155 has two coil packs that perform the function of the dizzies....

So, no, not without some major re-wiring.....

E&OE - the later 164 2.0 might share the distributorless engine....haven't seen one for a while.

not all 2.0 8v engines have the same displacement.. the 155 has a 1995cc eengine, but i'm sure a 1962cc version was used in the 164... they might have fitted the same one later on... the heads are interchangeable anyway, but not with a 75 8v...
