156 V6 Engine Mount

Hi Everyone,

I know there has been some posts about engine mounts on V6's before, but I'm pretty sure the one on mine that is shot is the rod-like one, which is bolted around the drivers-side suspension turret. (Part number: 60652740). Does anybody know if I can buy this part online, or if there is a pattern part available?

Although the bush doesn't look totally knackered, there is quite a bit of free play in there, and I think that it's this that is causing a heavy knock from that area. I first suspected it to be roll bar drop links, then lower wishbones, and then upper wishbones - replaced them all, so I'm going to have to try this as it is driving me absolutely mad. All other engine mounts are 100% OK, just this one is debateable.

Anybody had one of these go before - if so, what were the symptomns? I have a heavy knock over things like speed humps, sudden dips in the road etc.

Thanks anyway guys.

Yeah, I had one of these go on the V6. Symptoms were random knocks over bumps with no real pattern, but a definite knock behind the dash with sudden acceleration when it got very worn.
I got my replacement from the dealer as they don`t cost that much. Buy a new bolt from an ironmongers as the Alfa one is expensive and it is only a standard bolt! Be careful when you fit it as it fits only one way around (there is an arrow on it that points away from the engine).
Also, be cautious when you put the bolt back in as it is at an angle to the metal lump it screws in to and as the lump is alloy you can cross-thread if you aren't careful.

Is it essential that you get a new bolt ?

Re: 156 V6 Engine Mount

On mine the bolt had been bashed about and worn a bit. Probably it isn`t essential to change if you catch it soon enough.

Re: 156 V6 Engine Mount

Thanks Chris. I could only source one from Alfa dealer, about £33 with the VAT as well, due in Wednesday. Hopefully it will drive a bit better after that !
