Cambelt.................sorry

Hi,
come across this site several times when searching for info. on Alfa's, thought I'd join to pick yer brains.
I am a looking to buy a Alfa 156, the example I'm looking at is a 2005 2.0 JTS with 22,000 miles on the clock.

My question is:-is there anywhere I can find/print-off the service letter that apparently amended the recommended 72,000 mile cambelt change to 36,000 or 3 years. I'd like to persuade the dealer to change the belt before I buy as the car is now 3 years old.

thanks for any advice ........................

Hello & Welcome to AO :Bye:

Your local Alfa dealer should be able to give you something, is there one close?

Best of luck with the 156.

If you are not buying it from an Alfa garage it'd be better to get a couple of hundred quid knocked off and take it to a specialist yourself.. To do the belt change you really need the Alfa cam-locks, and a normal garage isn't going to have Alfa-only tools. But it can be done without, only the mechanic needs to be pretty competent and not just your average grease monkey. Heard a few horror stories of timing being off after a belt change and engine has been destroyed on start up

There's a image of an Alfa poster about the change on my website here. BTW Found it on another site!
