East Mids to Guiness World Record Attempt: Epsom

I've noticed a few of you AOEMers have RSVP'd yes in the National Event Thread for the world record convoy event

If we get enough interest I was planning to organise a mini convoy from the region to probably meet up enroute with other regions. So pop yourself down in this thread if your interested and I'll keep you all posted

I might still be able to go for this. Not RSVPed yet though, wonder when I have to decide by. The GTV needs a good run sometime, it barely started after being frozen stiff for 3 weeks outside. So glad I've got a garage now!

My fellow reps have begun sorting where they are going to meet up for the record bid, so I need to pull my finger out and sort a plan for us if anyone ends up coming I was thinking of going A42, M42, M40 and M25 so we could rendevouz at the donington services and get on the A42 from there. Any other ideas?

Just a thought Lewi. M1 is a quicker route to South Mimms if you're already at Dono. M40 is the scenic route but if you want a blast M1/A14/A1/A1M.
Its a longer route but the A14 and A1 make up for it.

Of course that's if you're planning to come to South Mimms.

The fastest route from donney is almost certainly a more simple M1, M25, with possible M25 clockwise a few miles backwards to pick up at South Mimms. It's not much fun but it's much shorter and faster I would have thought. This is just from my tuppence as someone who is going to struggle getting out of bed in the AM on a Sunday!

Right then, the plan now stands at meet at Donny to convoy to south mimms on the M25 to form a super convoy for the last leg. We would need to be at south mimms for 10am (edit: may need to be earlier to avoid gridlock at allams). I have pm'd a few EMAOers who have rsvp'd yes and will sort out an convoy event thread if we get a few takers

I was going with the Oxford members but they are not leaving Oxford services till 10am, your route and timing suits me. I could join in from Northampton services (Rothersthorpe) if you get enough takers for that plan... I will watch for further posts.....

Stuart...

That would be super matey, I think that that will be route we take. Make sure you remind me on the convoy event thread (when I sort it) so we don't drive past you
