Northants Alfa

Hi,
I've read on here about Northants Alfa - an Alfa independent specialist in Northampton, but I can't find a number for them anywhere. Can anyone help?

I'm looking for an Alfa specialist as close as possible to peterborough - any advice/recommendations? Right now, I just need someone to connect the service tool and reset the airbag warning lamp. (As well as look for logged diagnostic codes.)

Re: Northants Alfa

Hi there
Just spotted your thread - I use Northants Alfa Romeo. They are in Higham Ferrers on Midland Road which is 200yards off the A6.
The phone No is 01933 312485. Jem is the owner, and Mark the mechanic.

Thinking about using Northants Alfa romeo

I am looking for an independant specialist aswell to sort out my cam belt + water pump. I'm guessing these guys are depenedable?

£339 including service is very nice price (without the water pump, which i'm sure i can ask them to do at the same time.)

anyone else use these guys as of 2009 as i understand this thread is a few months old.

thank you.

Yep I'd recommend them to you , took my GTV there just after i got it. They went over the whole car for me, showing what to look for, how to maintain etc... what needed replacing (due to the condition of the car i might add, not them fishing for work).

I drive past their place most days and always seems pretty busy!!

I was booked in with andy blake but it was cheaper to go to northants alfa as they give you a fixed price without any hidden vat prices.

I'm booked in for thursday with them so I will leave comments once it's done... thanks

Just had my 96000 service with cam+water pump. 2 thumbs up from me.. and extra 2 thumbs up as $hit fix told me i need new shocks they asked me to go down to them again and they checked it for me and told me they are FINE! thats the last time i ever go to $hit fix. so in terms of savings whopping £300 and the suspension they told me they can deal with the matter for £75. booked for next thursday. thanks everyone really appreciate it...!

Experience with Northants Alfa

I've been going to Northants Alfa for years - first in Higham Ferrers and now in Wellingborough - and I've always had excellent service at very reasonable prices. I trust them to do whatever's needed, and I have never felt they were adding more than was necessary. In fact, the opposite - I've often asked if something wants doing on the car, and they've told me it's not necessary. Very good people to deal with, and I have absolutely no connection except as an ordinary paying-my-own-bills customer.

They have my bella in again for work, couldn't fit her in to get it all done at once. In the meantime my husband has been taken ill and they are VERY kindly keeping her safe until they complete all the jobs next week. Can't fault them at all.

What I can say is that I`ve had a problem with no power below 3000rpm. What I`ve heard was: Usualy it is MAP sensor or EGR. Quote for Ł200. Hopefully found that: and fixed it on my own.

I guess everybody has bad days. I had some work done at Northants Alfa, took several days longer than they said it would but wasn't a problem as I owned another car I could use instead. Got wallet raped for a new turbo hose on top of the other stuff I wanted doing (checked afterwards and it was 30 quid cheaper from an Alfa dealer ) And, sad to say, a few weeks later found they'd left an ABS sensor dangling which had wrapped around a CV boot and cut it up, and also left some sort of big electrical connector dangling in the breeze behind the engine block. The insulation on that was ripped to bits by the time that one was discovered and was "a breakdown waiting to happen".

Mark and Jem seem sound like sound blokes, always happy to chat about any niggles and I know many others are happy with them, so I guess I was just unlucky but I tend to try and avoid being unlucky twice so went elsewhere for some suspension work even though it meant an hour's extra drive.

I believe that Mark is there on his own now. Jem is doing something else and the collection of old "spares" Alfas has been cleared. Mark did my V6 cambelt recently - top bloke.
