Classic & sports meet in aide of St Nicholas Hospice?

Hello fellow alfisti,
I've had a discussion with an organiser of a yearly car event in Bury St Edmunds called 'Classic and sports cars by the lake'.
The event is now in its third year and raises much needed funds for a specialist cancer hospital in the area and is growing in popularity every year.

I have been offered a car stand for around 30 cars, I originally posted in the GTA lounge but diss-appointingly only have afew takers. So thought that you guys might help support this worthy cause.
The entrance fee is a donation of 10 minimum and is per car not per person.
It's a day event that will see other brands of cars young and old, it's also family friendly with stalls and other activities but mainly orientated around petrol heads. All funds raised go to the Hospice.

I appreciate that not all can make the date of September 9th so therefore other makes of alfa will be welcome.
I have yet to book the stand as I would like feed back from you lot as to interest and availability, I am also awaiting further info from the organiser. Please let me know your thoughts.

Cheers
Leighton

I know the feeling, there's always something to be fixed hey Jillyflower I've spent the last year or so gradually bringing mine back to glory as although Bella had low mileage when I purchased her she hadn't been very well kept cosmetically. She looks stunning now but still a few areas need improving or replacing, getting part for her can be the old rocking horse syndrome however.

I'll have to see what competition events I'm entering this season but if that date is clear then I could tow my SSC Stylus race car behind the Alfa for a day out.

Tonight, I have emailed Karen Ridgeon to ask about some space for a few Alfas. I suggested about 1/2 a dozen...are there 5 others who would want to join me? Be great if we could have a cross section of models.
Be nice to have a joint "Italian pic nic" by our cars too. (everybody brings something Italian to the shared buffet pic nic).??
Being a local, I could transport a table etc there in my camper.

Steve, I'll hold you to that if I may. Get polishing that loverly beasty boy engine.
Any other takers? This is just one of a hell great charity that does SO much good work and deserves full backing, Cmon, we can make it bigger.
I'd rather start small and grow with "definites" than get too adventurous and then get too many "fail to appears".
Macca....are you in?
Jilly are you in?
All welcome, but please....as it is such a good cause and you can commit, please ensure this date is in thick black felt pen in your diaries, and not a thin pencil scrawl.

Yep I'm in. I'm away the weekend but I'll put up a sticky thread unless you'd like to start and event post and I'll OK it when I get back? It's easy....just follow the instructions....make sure the date is correct though! I've made a ****-up in the past

That sounds like a "yes" then. Bring whichever one you want and flaunt it like a tart at the dockside.

I've had an email back from Karen Ridgeon. What we need to do is block book so all the bookings are together and then when we turn up, need to all arrive together, so the marshallers can ensure we are together. There's alot of "togetherness" going on here.

Pretty standard stuff for a 'small' venue. Can you let me know what time we need to be on site and displayed by please?? Can you also find somewhere that we can meet up to convoy in, at least 30 mins before the time we're due to be there as there are always stragglers...traffic. road works, etc. PM me if it's easier.

Cheers

Yes, No problem. I'll get all the griff from Karen and sort out meeting points, times, and anything else we need to know.
But today & tomorrow I'm off on an archaeological search and dig in the freezing cold!!

Afraid the Brera's no longer available for this one. Have decided to let it go as after being off work for so long last year I can't justify the expense of keeping a car that rarely gets used. Still an Alfa in the garage though as my son has a Mito

I'll probably gauge the final yes's nearer the time, but..... in time to register. Having been to this event before, at least there is plenty of room.
