What is a "macho van"? A Ford transit with flared arches?

The Germans have a word "bullig" to describe a tough car etc. The VW transporter is known as the Bulli.

Classic ones yes but the new transporter ones no.
Cornwall is full of bell ends with transporters thinking they are real beach bum surfer dudes.
But they are really just loosers from the city with dull jobs.

Splitty's were cool in the 60ies.
They are cool no more.

Just like Sir Paul (or Mick or whatever these old folks' names are) performing at 'Pop' music festivals across the globe: faint recollections of coolness, memories of days gone by, the remembered scent of a girlfriend from way back when (you were still able to get around without help).

Uncool.
And modern camper vans are mostly annoying.
I need a multi-select poll but am going with uncool for now.

Our son hired a VW camper van for his wedding. Photo in my "Garage".

It was a 10 plate, made I believe in Brazil, it was unbelievably awful to drive.

As Al eludes to above, people look at them through rose tinted glasses, they may be an iconic design, gorgeous to look at, but as I said driving this so called modern version was not a pleasant experience.

Travelling up Garrowby Hill was embarrassing, my son says he could walk up the hill faster, it would only go up in first gear.

Sub-****ing-zero. I struggle to decide whether the Beetle is cooler or not.

Without doubt the two coolest vehicles ever and not beaten are both the Beetle and Samba.

They are indeed the epitome of cool of which all other vehicles aspire too, surely? Anyone who does not agree has no idea. I'm not even sure why Elvis offered any other option other than Sub-Zero???

This is due in some part because I have never owned one nor desire to.

They're definitely cool but you couldn't pay me to have one. (actually, that's a complete lie: pay me enough and I'll even consider a Morris Ital as daily transport).

What I actually want is a kitted out VW Caravelle. Not because I'm a wanabe beach bum but because it would be great for my dogs and my bikes. They're not cool, but they are good.

they make me smile when i see them, filling my head with romantic notions of beaches, barbeques and chilling out as the sun sets. I suspect they are terrible to drive, but hey, a smile's a smile at the end of the day

And here's another reason to like them; over the years, they created many memories:

All others are a caravan with an engine, impractical & naff.
Better in a tent so you can drive around without packing everything up.
But VW campers like these raise a smile every time. Cool.
