It looks very dated now but I still like the concept of it

It lacks any sort of character or charm. It's basically a mid-engined Carina e.

It's uncool.

I think these look much better than the MK1, but they are not cool.

Too many chavved up ones around these parts.

Quite a pretty little thing. Certainly more visually appealing than the Mk 1.

Unfortunately it isn't cool and never will be. When did you last see one of these that wasn't sporting a ridiculous bazooka exhaust, making whooshy dump valve noises and being steered by a reverse baseball capped Neanderthal?

Hovering between uncool and cool. I think I'll go cool. They will become rare because a few knobheads 'modify' them.

It's got pop-up headlights. That makes any car cool. Not sub-zero, but cool, definitely, because of the pop-up headlights.

This one has quite good proportions as well, especially the spider/targa. Not the greatest, but not bad.

EDIT: Now I challenge anyone to find me a car that has popup headlights that is definitely seriously uncool, despite the pop-up headlights.

Nope, all of those are cool. Because they have pop-up headlights.

That is definitely cool - especially in a good colour. Without the pop-up headlights it wouldn't be, though.

Most of them are tatty old sheite boxes today. When they are properly cool, and they will be (not just down to the headlights though) they will look good and properly cared for. As such that is proof that they are indeed not cool. Today though when I see one I just think "Cheap load of old sheiteybox cack".

We need a poll for the sheityold cackbox Mazda 323F pop-up.

Just because most people don't care for them, doesn't make the car uncool in concept.

You couldn't say that the 916 is uncool just because there are quite a lot of ratty examples running around.

It kind of does make them uncool. Because Joe Public won't look at it and think it is cool just yet.

A 916 is ultra cool because it's an old Alfa

That's about the coolest one yet! Shooting Brake-like design, before-its-time glass tailgate and Ferrari Daytona-like front. Lotus-fettled suspension, lightweight and quite powerful for its time if you got one with a bigger engine. What's not to like? Even if it did not have the pop-up headlights, I'd call it cool.

In principle, you are right. It should be cool. I guess my view is jaded. My mum had one and I drove it quite a bit. I've said before...there isn't enough room on the internet to explain just how bad it was.
