The introduced-in-1972 Mk1 Granny had several variants, including a 2-dr saloon, and a fastback coupe, which features here.

Early coupes had a coke bottle kink, which was removed fairly soon into the production run. I prefer the "straight" version myself.

Usual set of engines were offered, starting with a weedy 2ltr, and blamming up to the 3ltr.

In SA you could get a 4.9ltr V8 - the Granada Perana???

I like them. Muscular and brutal, knobbly-kneed and asthmatic. Reminds me of me.

Office Chair.

I was not aware if the coke bottle design. I voted before I viewed the pictures and only went cool.
Mind you that would be too personal of an opinion.
Colleague at work had one in the copper colour.

I don't think we got the coke bottle one in the UK. There was also a 2-door saloon that we didn't get. I think the rest of Europe also got to have any body in any spec wheres here the coupe was in Ghia spec only. It whiffs of the 70s but carries it off really well. Definitely cool.

They are pretty cool. Not sure about some of the colours though.

Most fords from that era have long since rusted away.

I remember as a boy my dad removing the engine from a 3.0 saloon Granny so that he could fit it into his SE5 Scimitar.

Better than the Mk2 Grandad but still not cool IMO. Looks like a giant Marina to me but weirdly I've never seen one in the flesh. Presumably most of them succumbed to rust or running costs in the fuel crisis and ended up donating their engines to Capris, Scimitars, Gilburns, AC ME 3000s, TVR 3000s, Marcos' etc, etc
