The name CD stands for Coupe Diplomat as it was based on the flagship Opel and Eric Bitter had help from the Design department of Opel. Vauxhall did not have a version of the Diplomat at the time and still had its own Design department. The next model, the SC , was based on the Senator which came as the Vauxhall Royale. The SC looked pretty good ,if a bit derivative of the Ferrari 400.

It's powered by a 327 Chevy V8 - a long way from a Viva!

For me, that elevates it from "cool" to "sub zero"!

Quite the oddity and thanks to Cue for reminding me of its relatively humble underpinnings.

I've never been sure whether to view the Bitter as a coachbuilt luxury low volume special or a glorified kit car -which is probably unfair in the extreme since it was never supplied for home build, but you know what i mean, I hope.

I lean more to the former, I think. It was quite handsome. Rare enough even in its day for most people to wonder what it was.

I vote cool.

Office Chair.

Top of the cool wall. Never seen one before but I do like it.

Somebody will come along and tell me a Frenchman designed it living in Germany/Austria.

Actually I work with such a chap just like that and what a decent fellow he is
