Bonnet / Matra Djet

Fibreglass glued to a steel body.

Mid-engined. Independent suspension, 'bones and coils all round. Disc brakes all round.

The world's first mid-engined production road car.

Looks like it's melted in the sun.
The yellow one looks more like "raclette'' than "jet".

So, to resume:

Plastic.
French.
Had a "D" added to its name to try and make the French say "Jet" properly.
French.
And it's a Matra.
Did I mention it's French?

Do I have to say it....?

I like mid engined plastic cars but this doesn't do anything for me. Being first at something doesn't necessarily make it cool.

So I voted meh because there was no bof option.

I didn't know it was the first mid-engined production sports car.

It is quite interesting. But it ought to be sexy, exciting. But somehow it looks a bit Steve "interesting" Davies.

Uncool.

+ You can tell people it's a world's first
- Then you remember the 1954 Porsche 550 Spyder beat it by 8 years

I'm struggling with this one. The fact it's french isn't helping it

I get that it's a stretch. It's definitely not an immediate selection.

It's not a first either.

It might be the first French MR production car.

Well, it is French so it's possible.

See "minus" in post #4. This was built in the early 60's.

I thought the 550 was a racer, but I see the point you make.

It's just that bit too obscure and weird to be cool.

Office Chair.

I like this one. EiP posted another version of this in the Car Porn thread and I disliked it.
This one is a little more in proportion.
Could this be another French car I like?

Somebody is going to say it is the same car. If it is the previous photographer wanted sacking.

No it was a road car too. Maybe the early equivalent of an homologation special, I'm not sure, but people raced or rallied road cars far more back then just as they came out of the box.
