1955 Fiat 1100/103 Trasformabile

The 1100/103 Trasformabile was introduced at the 1955 Geneva Motor Show. The American-inspired design was the work of the special bodies division of Fiat (Sezione Carrozzerie Speciali). 571 of these first series Trasformabiles were built. In 1956 it received a more powerful engine (three more horsepower) and a modified rear suspension; 450 more of these were built.

From 1957 the Trasformabile was equipped with the more powerful 55 PS 1,221 cc lump.

Production continued until 1959, with 2,360 1.2lt Trasformabiles built.

I'm off to ebay now!

I like cars of that era. Many of them. This one is in the lower percentile - it's a bit bloated and heavy looking.

Cool? Alright - but barely.

I'd never heard of this Trasformabile before, so I assessed it on the information and images provided on this poll. It wishes it was a C1 Corvette or first gen Ford Thunderbird, but instead it's too small, awkwardly proportioned, tottery and fragile looking. Skinny tyres, odd use of chrome, fake wire wheel trims, tiny engine and a convertible top so you can see the beards and bald spots of the type of people who'd drive these (slowly, to classic car shows). They'd actually be a good choice of car for a professional clown to drive in parades etc.
Uncool, minus one full grade under the unobtainable / undriveable museum piece rule.
Sorry, I don't make the rules. Oh wait, yes I do.
