Pegaso Z-102

Gorgeous little Spanish car from the 50's

Designed by the same man as the Alfa Romeo 512 race car, it used racing car technology. Developed wholey by Pegaso in Barcelona using only V8 engines and coachbuilt body work

Came with either a 2.5, 2.8 or 3.2 V8 engine throughout its life, available as a Coupe or Convertible, sub 1000kg so not exactly slow either.

But is it cool?

I'm on the fence.

Very, very pretty but I'm inclined to think it's a bit too much of a "display on the lawn at Pebble Beach with all your posh mates" car to be cool.

Sub zero. Thankfully there's more to Spain than SEATs and Benidorm.

+ Smooth as a pebble on the beach
- too Pebble Beach for some

Definitely cool. It's such a pretty little thing and avoids the vulgar associations of classic Italians. Only misses sub-zero status because no b*gger has heard of it.

The black one is very pretty, but all three cars look different (coachbuilt bodywork) so I can't rank based on my favourite design! I averaged them, made an allowance for the 'display on the lawn at Pebble Beach' factor and ended up with 'uncool'.
Figured I need to get controversial again by breaking out my habit of being hard on rare antique stuff.

Incidentally, is the black car actually being displayed on the lawn at Pebble Beach?

That's what makes it sub-zero for me.

I think so. I don't think the silver/grey one is parked up whilst its owners take the dog for a walk either.
