Austin-Healey 3000

Built from 1959 to 1967, with bodywork made by Jensen and assembled at Abingdon, the 3-litre 3000 was a successful race and rally competitor. Were 42,926 really made? :mope:

Had a bash at its poor relative the 100/4 which I gave up on before it was ever completed!

x2 6V batteries and lots of rusty bits underneath, bought it cheap from a chap in the paint shop who had repaired the bodywork and sprayed it Regal Red iirc? Luvvin' these smilies.:

Pics? Nope didn't even have an instamatic in the sixties. :

Cool. Old Skool hairy chested sports car with rally pedigree and still charming enough to take out an elegantly clad young lady for a quintessential English picnic. Very nice.

I am surprised that values seem to have plateaued over the last few years whereas quite a few others have continued to rise.

Cool. It's sort of manly but without suggesting that you are lacking in the trouser department. They make a good noise too.

It seem bizarre that you can buy a usable one for less than you could spend on an RS Escort.

Exactly. The reason values have plateaued is that too many potential owners can't get into or out of such a low car any more. Whatever this car once was, it's now for driving slowly to classic car shows.

I think it is cool. A proper British sportscar, not like the crappy MGB.

Of course we must consider the type of person typically associated with a car, because that's a factor in / function of the car's image.

I didn't say that, I was just theorising as to why this car isn't still appreciating in value. Try to keep up.

Lower trunions to be fixed, King Pins with sintered bronze bushes to be replaced, Armstrong twin piston oscillation dampers to sort? (My brain may be suffering confusion and have that all wrong?

Now tell me they have all been modified with more up to date componentry? :

And you can support that argument by showing that no low slung sports cars have appreciated in value? I'll try to keep up.

Whilst I respect your opinion ( ), please don't include me in your "Royal we".
I just look at the car and decide. My opinion will not be influenced by some knobheads having driven or owned examples.
