Just scoring the car based on the pictures above.

I remember seeing a couple of nice ones like pic 1, back in '80 summat, I suspect the reality is that 1 in 1,000 were like that (with the added options price shock attached) and all the rest were like pic 4.

Meh at best.

AMG C63 estate

The first car I had to drive after passing my test was an Audi 80 1.8 automatic.

I stuffed it into a bridge. And a telegraph pole. 3 weeks after passing.

But it wasn't a very nice car even before that.

My brother in law at the time had one a bit like the top pic though, and I quite liked that. Had a horrendous rubber moulded spoiler on the back though.

Office Chair.

My first next door neighbour had one. Not cool but not because he had one.

It is typically Guigiaro neat and tidy, unlike modern Audis which are mostly horribly fussy. I like the Sport and the (Zermatt?) silver one with the black wheels a lot. Is it cool? Probably not because, if people ask you what you drive, you'll say an Audi. They'll assume it's an A3 and that you are a twunt.

My dad had one of these in an odd pastel yellow shade. It was inoffensive and quite comfortable but even he thought it was a bit bland.

It had a chequered life though. I'll skip the romantic occasions when he let me borrow it to go out on a date in something sensible but I have a few pleasant memories of it. Dad was furious when a Porsche 944 ran in the back of it when he was stationary. I was glad I wasn't driving! A couple of years later it immolated itself on Eccles New Road. Fortunately dad got out to check what the smell was then realised why there was also a bit of smoke.....

Uncool though his was briefly red hot.

Interesting. I'd known about the Clubs concept (Isuzu Piazza) but not this one. I like it a lot and you can see where he was going with the Scirocco and 80 (and how it influenced the subsequent Coupe/Quattro).

Thanks for posting that.

Something nice about the Sport trim level ones, with the decals. IIRC, 1.8 8v golf gti engines?
