Before they became naff - and with the nice Targa option, so not as floppy as full drop tops. Nice.

Cool because it's pre impact bumpers so looks massively better. Also cool because 911 aficionados don't like targas.

The Mutz, so cool that Porsche has just released a current version and its cheaper than other 911's.

...Also, i know i am being pedantic but, the pictures above are of the late 60's Targa as the indicator and air intake are below the headlamp while they removed this attractive design feature in the early 70's. ....and the Fuchs changed in the 70's too to a less attractive style ...imo.

Don't panic. They looked like that until '74 or thereabouts.

I know - more my generalised, inaccurate title.

Pre-impact bumper 911 targa would have done it.

brilliant choice. Easily my favourite period of the 911's long history; Fuch alloys, slim bumpers, slim tail lights and front indicators. Couldn't give two hoots for any 911 since 1988, and the targa is the coooooolest :-) big roll-over hoop, lovely rear window. It's like what a 911 would be, while relaxing on it's day off from being a 911.

Have to say that while I'm trying to keep my Lottery Win Garage quite small, I will be adding a 2015 911 targa to it. That is the coolest new 911 i've seen in the best part of 30 years.

In fact, I might turn my head into a targa. Big silver roll over hoop linking my ears, chop off the back of my head and replace it with a wrap-around piece of glass. Proper targa top

A driver is always faithful to a car that's always faithful to its driver.

Sometimes in the darkest hour, love comes shining through.
Then it doesn't seem so far from me to you.

They were rusty, overpriced and overrated before the galvanised us bumper editions came along. Then they were just overpriced.

I no likey but it's nearly as cool as a Beetle.

i voted uncool, but i'm missing the point of all this a bit.
i like Porsches, i had a 944. but the old 911s don't do much for me. i like them as they get newer, from the 1990s onwards. but then this thread isn't 'what Mark likes' is it.
but anyway, uncool. water cooled ones - now you're talking.

It's just not the one to have. It's lines aren't right and it doesn't go as well as a coupe. I sort of get kb's point but disagree. It isn't cool in itself and it's not desirable to Porsche fans so it falls between both stools.

I'd love a 911 but who wants a targa? Seriously! Effete, tarty waste of space versions -uncool.

no, no, no guys - so many of you have spelt cool wrong.

It's not spelt uncool, it's spelt cool. You don't need the 'un' bit, ok? A quick edit to your respective posts will get this fixed and we can get things back to where they should be for the COOL 911 Targa, ok?

Which is exactly why no 911 apart from the original is cool. Far too nerdy and technical. Too many numbers and letters and derivatives.

911s are ugly. Especially the older ones.
