Ovlov 740 Turbo

The yank-friendly styling was the embodiment of Marmite on wheels as soon as it was launched. You couldn't really sit on the fence with this one. Treated nicely, I think this is a fine looking vehicle. The estate is particularly good.

The Turbo is an ace sleeper car. It is cosy, safe, comfy, practical and quietly confident. I'm sure they will last for a million years or something. The estate will accomodate a double bed. When launched they would give Fezza 308s a run for their money, sort of. Especially if they were both carrying wardrobes.

Not as a saloon, and not with the twin headlights. But it has a certain level of not caring what anyone else thinks about it.

Might be a bit of stretch to call it cool though.

Really like them. They can be made to go very quickly indeed but are in no way cool. They are sort of anti-cool

Cool. I'd rather have an 850R though. Or even a later S60R

I remember the reaction they invoked when they were launched. At the time of the aero-car, they were a complete shock not just for not being an aero car, but for being soooo square.

I like the black saloon, all purposeful. There's something about its aura (not its looks) that makes it the Swedish cousin of the Alfa 75 to my eyes.

I seem to remember the aerodynamics, while looking like they would be terrible, were actually not bad at all?

I think we're all trying to get at pretty much the same point.

The black one has something about it. Real menace. Most if them don't look like that though. Absolutely agree about the grotesque twin headlights.

Uncool.

Whilst you might get one car to look borderline cool in the right paint they will generally look like this when you find 'em in the wild

Uncool wardrobe shifting shed.

Just what I was saying about the black one being an exception.

I had one for a while. Not Turbo, just 2.3GLE (B23E Engine) with a 4 -gear (plus an overdrive button) box ( That was a cool car despite being old. Real Swedish tank.

Loved every day I drove it, especially winter time (no electronics involved)

In no way is that piece of c#*p cool or anyway near cool, I had one and it was THE WORST car that I have ever had the misfortune to own.
It lasted 3 months with me, it was only that long as that's how long it took to sell the piece of junk.
What an ugly hateful unstyled gawky shed!
if you're thinking "why did you buy it then? " well everyone recomended them as a good, safe, spacious, reliable family car (which is what I wanted at the time) sold it and purchased the Fiat Multipla, incidentally one of the BEST cars that I've owned!

Running report for: Type 937 Gt 3.2 V6
