Ford Racing Puma

Special limited edition of a popular little Fiesta in a fancy frock car. Only 500 were produced and sold in Britain with an OTR price tag of a whopping 22,800 in 1999

It gained not so subtle body styling tweaks, Sparco race seats and an interior garnished with blue alcantara. Engine power was up from 125bhp to 153bhp, suspension was lowered and bigger Speedline wheels were fitted

It looked purposeful if nothing else!

It certainly looked a lot more butch than the ordinary Puma which, by all accounts, is a cracking little car but always looked slightly too tall and narrow. I like a fast Ford and I love the colour, but there is a whiff of the boy racer about it which, for me, just pushes it into uncool.

Over the top mods, underwhelming power.

Supposed to be nice to drive, and there's something about it though. I wouldn't call it uncool, so maybe it just sneaks into cool.

Supposed to be a cracking drive and while a bit OTT the mods look right.

They are rare enough to be cherished so you rarely see a dog.

It is probably just about cool to petrolheads. So I'll give it the benefit of the doubt as I think it'll look too boy racer to the general public, attractive to others.

I believe all the Pumas were a quite good drive, right from the 1.4 upwards. Quirky design. The Racing one looks very bloomin good though.
I think it is getting old enough to become in my mind a modern classic so it gets a

I would say it was cool.

I had the original 1.7 Puma and it was a brilliant car. Reasonably quick with exceptional handling, but this is likely to be even better.

Not so sure about the OTT body kit though...

Who cares?

Those who don't buy them because of their image are missing out on a great car.

Keithy and DD, I've known a few owners, all raved about how good and none of them ladies.

You two should get a room.

Or at least a shared garage for your broken 145s.

I'm hoping for them to kick a sort of tendering process after which I buy the one that comes in cheaper.
