Bmw m3 e36

The first straight-6 M3, with around 300bhp (more or less) in standard trim. Not bad.

I'd love to have another one, but they're worth over twice what I sold my old one for now.

E30 325IS (s.a only) was cool. E36 M3 came in four door.
Uncool!

Nice car. Most of the ones I see are dogs being driven by plastic gangsters. Uncool for that reason.

Im not so sure. It was (and probably still is) a great car but on the odd occasion when you do see one, its either shagged to death or modified to death. On the very rare occasion you see a standard one, one has to admit it hasn't aged at all well

That might have been the case 5 years ago when they were cheap but most of the ones I see these days are driven by genuine car enthusiasts, proper petrolheads. There are always a couple at trackdays. I got chatting to one in a petrol station a couple of weeks ago when I was out in my 147 GTA.

voted sub zero - for a proper one, not a 12 owner chavved up vinyl clad horror. these have done full circle - proper supercar for well paid everyman, to looked after by more regular guys until seen in inner cites - blacked out windows, 4 up & up to no good, back to a nice one being a real head turner. buy one now, the values of nice ones will rocket before long. i like the E36 beemer, one of the last type of cars that you could fix on your drive.

This car is all about the engine, and it is one of the finest 6 cylinder engines ever built IMO. Up there with the Busso

I think the engine is in a different league to the Busso.

The Busso would need some serious mods to get it upto the same power level.

The car itself I don't think is cool, it seems to have aquired a council estate image as prices have fallen.

Shame though as mechanically they are excellent.

Not all about power though, the Busso 3.2 feels more responsive, punchier at low revs, sounds better and looks better.. Upto 5k revs there's nothing in it, BMW is only quicker at the top end of 2nd and 3rd gear and by the time you're going that quick you're into 3 figure speeds.

Price of a good E36 M3 is about the same as an E46 M3 now, I reckon they'll overtake before long and once they've broken through that glass ceiling then the only way is up, and probably at quite a pace.

I dont see the E36 ever being as stylish or retro cool as the E30. It might have the engine, performance and handling, but it looks crap. And looks are the first thing people will see

Much agree here. In Australia it is the same situation, they are either dogged or modified by punks that have no idea. You do see the odd one here and there in standard and immaculate condition and these are the cool ones.

Second rate drug dealer wheels. A great drive with a glorious engine, but not a pretty car and from the era when BMW forgot how to do build quality. Far too many rusty 3 series BMWs of that generation.

Uncool.
