Is it possible for a car to have such a concentration of uncool, it actually bends time and space around itself and becomes cool again?

No, I don't think so either.

I had a red one back when God was a boy, and a very nice car it was too.

Had actually forgotten, that Triumph / Honda also had their own “ ARNA” .

As far as I remember, this car was identical to the Japanese build Honda, which was sold on the continent as the “Accord Sedan”.

If I am not mistaking, Honda build their models in the UK, naming them “Triumph” and “Rover” for the UK market, in order to by-pass the EU rules on maximum import from Japan.

Good news was of course, that it must have put food on the table for a lot of UK factory workers. The down side was, that it totally destroyed what was left of the Rover and Triumph brands in the rest of Europe.

I think, that the “Acclaim” must have replaced the Triumph Dolomite, which I thought back then, was rather cool.
Also thought at the time, that the first Accord-model actually was a bit hot,
but this Acclaim / Accord was absolutely not.

Seriously uncool for me.

Not actually a bad car as such (the little 12v engine is a free-revving gem) but very beige & tweedy. Now if you had said the Avon Turbo....................

it still wouldn't be cool.

My dad had an Acclaim CD, horrid little thing and so small I could barely fit in it, and I'm only just 6'. Decent engine admittedly, but the rest of it was seriously uncool. Totally devalued the Triumph name (and I've had several!)

IT was sold elsewhere as a Honda Ballade if memory serves. Based on the Civic of the time was it not and a saloon version of the Honda Quintet? Please correct me accordingly. Not a great Triumph really but would have made a nice wee Rover I think

So much more stylish than that boring Honda!

There's a ring of truth in the name Triumph Ac-Lame.

Seriously uncool.

A bit of poke and tuck would probably transform it. Those stance types quite often go for sort of ironic base material.

Poke is where the wheel pokes out from the arch and the tyre is stretched on the rim to fit under the arch. Tuck is where the rim is tucked up in the arch.

For the Acclaim, I'd go for massively banded wheels and lots of poke.
