Citroen CX

I don't care what anybody else says. This is as sub-zero cool as it gets.

The CX was launched in 1974.

Vauxhall had recently launched the Victor/Ventora. Volvo the 200 series. The Mk1 Granada (you slaaaag) was only 2 yrs old. The Mk2 some 3 yrs away.

You could get an E12 5-series or a Benz W114, I suppose.

Citroen offered the future.

In spaceshape form.

Again.

Just glorious. As was its predecessor the DS.
Individual, distinctive, avant garde - where has all that bravery gone in the world. We are now run by excel spreadsheets and tick boxes in an increasingly sanitised life which - to me at any rate - means we are unlikely to see a DS/CX ever again. Rejoice and embrace the quirks of the individual

Congratulations SIF, you kiss enough Frogs and you find a prince.

This is cool, actually. Partly for the reasons you state and it still has something about it.

I see this poll as being for the whole CX range, because no model was specified. I really like the CX styling and unique features etc, but like your average Citroen they're mostly slow four-cylinder FWDs with a fair chance of being diesel. The range as a whole therefore only gets cool.
If the range consisted of just the GTi Turbo and a model with the Maserati V6 from the SM, sub zero all day long.

Like all French cars, quirky and individual for a year or 2, after a few years naff and outdated. As for Citroen any manufacturer that produces the Picasso renders every car they've ever made uncool.

cool for all the right reasons:

- it's not trying to be cool
- it couldn't give a fig if you think it's uncool...
- ... because it would be surprised to find that, what comes to it so naturally, is considered cool
- it still turns heads and has something interesting to tell us
- it's one of those cars that adds colour, debate and intrigue to the automotive world

coolio!

Love the CX and the earlier DS.

The interior has 'Thunderbirds' undertone about it. It's quirky and different... right up my alley. I do like cars that look a little leftfield.

It's objective but I'd even take a Panamera over this piece of French tat.

PS Porsche 911 is the best car in the world bar none. The best. Brilliant car.

I struggle with this because I always try to look at it as Third person (not the right use of that but you get my drift I hope) because I'm biased and hate 99.8% of everything the French do.
That said I don't quite get this at all. That picture of the interior is sleep inducing and even the styling ditchwater. That Citroen SM I totally get though I still hate it, but this, well it's just an estatey four door looking coupe thingy. A bit like those BMW's and Audis saloon - coupe - hatchback lookey saloon things they do now.

Will other (none car) folk look and see it as cool? I don't know and as such I would go with 'Meh' but I suspect this does not have that option so I'm going with sh*t.

Idiot button

I'm not going anywhere, I'm just going.
Statements above are all my own opinion and not fact.

ah, but Malc, this bit: "A bit like those BMW's and Audis saloon - coupe - hatchback lookey saloon things they do now." Yes, they're doing it now; Citroen did it 40 years ago What was Audi making 40 years ago?

"I'm going with sh*t." I disagree of course, but that did make me smile mate
