My Brother in Law had one. It was noisy as all hell, but I'm not sure it was particularly quick.

And it definitely wasn't cool. (Although as a 16 year old at the time, I don't think I was so scathing.)

It may well have been quick and effective but it's just another japanese tin box. Uncool.

I think it was a bit of an homologation version for rallying. I certainly remember them from the time. Not particularly inspiring looks and it never attained any great motorsport heights.

Interesting, a bit. A performance sleeper at the time, possibly. Cool? Definitely not.

Uncool.

Indeed. Only the Mk1 golf gti, mk2 golf gti, xr3i, xr2, 205gti, MG Maestro, Astra GTE, Renault 5 Gordini, and Escort RS Turbo came before it

It's ok though. I don't think anyone noticed.

That's a relief. If I'd said anything other than "my brother in law had one, it was noisy" in this thread, I could have revealed myself as a massive liar.
